Cooler nighttime temps have already set-in, kids are back to school, and Fall activities are in full-swing. This is when the anticipation begins to build for us all! We are looking forward to the coming Winter Season with you! The weather forecasters are starting to kick around the idea of colder and drier - we’ll take it - considering we will provide the moisture needed for snowmaking just as long as we have cooler temps we are good to go! Generally snowmaking begins anytime around Thanksgiving if temps permit. Please stay with us this Pre-Season and keep an eye on our Calendar to join us for Events leading-up to our 65th Season of 2025-’26.

Early Winter, Popular Questions Answered

December 03, 2012

“When are you Opening?”
With only two days of snowmaking success so far, the weather needs to gift a handful more. The forecasted temperatures look to allow for snowmaking Wednesday night only this week, so we hope the forecast turns colder as we approach the Week of December 10th for a targeted Opening Day announcement. We hope you will join us for our Kick-Off Party with Red Ball Jets at Snow Trails this Saturday, December 8th beginning at 9PM in The Snowflake Loft, to get the vibe going and carry it into our Snow Trails 2012-’13 Season!

“You are making that fake snow, right?”
Nothing fake about it. We look for temperatures to be 29 degrees Fahrenheit and 60% Relative Humidity or below to make snow. The Cooling Tower at Snow Trails further assists in lowering the temperature of the water before it goes out to each of our snow guns. We are simply replicating Mother Nature's process, when she graces us with natural snowfall, only we have it down to a science and are taking it to another level with our Cooling Tower and state-of-the-art snow guns. We first pressurize the water and then send it out through our massive snowmaking system pipeline. The snow guns take it from there and break the H2O down into tiny molecules to allow a snowflake to form quickly. With these efforts and constant improvement to our snowmaking system, this is what allows Snow Trails to be most efficient and successful in each snowmaking campaign. It is our mission to provide you with the best snow conditions for skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing fun in Ohio!!
