First Snowmaking Campaign of Snow Trails 55th Winter Season
December 17, 2015

Forecasted temperatures could allow snowmaking to span 36 hours in the Possum Run Valley, being colder than most other parts of Ohio.

NEWS FROM SNOW TRAILS

For Immediate Release December 17, 2015

Mansfield, OH December 17, 2015: Snowmaking will begin this Friday, December 18th at Snow Trails. The campaign will continue round-the-clock as temperatures allow. Forecasted temperatures could allow snowmaking to span 36 hours in the Possum Run Valley, being colder than most other parts of Ohio.

Snow Trails Cooling Tower will assist in chilling the water down to a temperature 13 degrees lower than when it came out of water wells and a holding pond at the resort. The tower allows Snow Trails snowmaking system the capability of making snow, with each SMI Snow Gun, at warmer temperatures and greater volumes at lower temperatures.

Snow Trails plans to leave the stockpiled whales of snow untouched, better protecting the layers of snow underneath, with the exception of The Woods Terrain Park Crew build. When Opening Day for the 55th winter season is established, the fleet of Pisten Bully Snow Cat Grooming Machines will begin to spread and shape the stockpiles of snow, readying the slopes for Snow Trails to welcome skiers and snowboarders out for winter fun.

Snow Trails Kick-Off Party will take place Saturday, December 19th even with the slopes and tubing park unavailable. The Snowflake Loft will come alive with reggae sounds of The Ark Band live on-stage. Doors open at 7PM. Band 9PM- 1AM.

Snow Trails, which was the first commercial ski area in Ohio, is a privately owned resort, under the same management since inception. The resort features six chairlifts, including a slow moving Beginner's Double Chairlift and two ski carpets dedicated to the Beginner's Area Complex. A third carpet lift is utilized in the Snow Tubing Park with the "Longest Tubing Lanes in Ohio." Snow Trails is also home to Timberline, the "Longest Trail in Ohio." 17 total trails with three glade ski areas, plus the recent addition of a fourth terrain park for the youngest beginners. A 9,000 sq. ft. Rental Center houses user friendly equipment and offers a self service system. Snow Trails typically opens in early December and the season lasts into March. The resort is located off Interstate 71 south of Mansfield on Possum Run Road. For more information call 800-OHIO-SKI (644-6754) or visit SnowTrails.com.
