4th Annual Swap & Zozo Fest 2011 at Snow Trails

October 12, 2011

NEWS FROM SNOW TRAILS

For Immediate Release October 12, 2011

festivities encourage families to enjoy time outdoors while preparing for the coming winter season at Snow Trails

Mansfield, OH, October 12, 2011:  Snow Trails, Ohio's popular ski, snowboard, and snow tubing resort, will host the 4th Annual Swap & Zozo Fest October 28th- October 30th.  The weekend festivities will encourage families to enjoy time in the outdoors together and prepare for the coming winter season at the resort.

The Swap will open Friday, October 28th at 3:00PM for those who will register items, such as apparel and equipment, for sale and will be open for the public to begin to browse the selection. Each item registered for the Swap will cost $1, with a 20% sales commission benefitting the non-profit Snow Trails Ski Patrol. Commissions gained from sales will help the Patrol purchase safety equipment and supplies for use during the winter season.

The Swap will close at 9:00PM Friday, re-opening the next morning, Saturday, October 29th at 10:00AM. The Swap & Zozo Fest booths will open, along with The Snow Trails Ski Shop, at 10:00AM as well. The Snow Trails Ski Patrol will fire-up the grill, serving their famous bratwurst along with cold adult beverages and sodas beginning at 10:30AM outside the main lodge.

Fest booths will include ski industry exhibitors, whose effort during the winter months help to introduce people to the sport of skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing, while also helping those active in these healthy outdoor winter activities enjoy their experiences to the fullest.

Other Fest booths will showcase winter employment opportunities at Snow Trails, Racing programs for the season, The Adaptive Adventure Sports Coalition (TAASC), and others.  A savings of 5%, on select season passes will be available through Sunday, October 30th. Passes will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.

The Zozo Party will begin at 7:00PM Saturday. The Last Run Bar will open for beverages, as the Patroller's set-up their grill on the back deck of the main lodge to continue to serve their delicious brats. The Zozobra Bonfire has become a family fun event and will take place after dusk. The tradition surrounding the burning of the Zozobra is that it brings a snowy ski season to the Possum Run Valley.

The Swap will continue for a third and final day, Sunday, October 30th from 11:00AM until 5:00PM. For those who entered items in the Swap, pick-up of unsold items should take place between 5:00PM and 7:00PM, with payment to sellers for items sold at the same time.

Snow Trails, which was the first commercial ski area in Ohio, is a privately owned resort, under the same management since inception. The resort features six chairlifts, two conveyor carpet lifts, one utilized for the Tubing Park. Two new trails added this 2011-'12 season, include Timberline "Longest Trail in Ohio," providing 17 trails plus three terrain parks and glade areas. A new 9,000 sq. ft. Rental Center was added, with nearly double the inventory and a self service system. The resort usually opens in early December and the season lasts into March. The resort is located off Interstate 71 south of Mansfield on Possum Run Road. For more information call 800-OHIO-SKI or visit the resort website at www.SnowTrails.com.
