October 27, 2010
NEWS FROM SNOW TRAILS

For Immediate Release October 27, 2010

Snow Trails brings "Living The Story," an educational seminar by Dr. Jason M. Hurst (Physician to US Ski Team )and movie premiere of The Ski Channel Film Tour's "The Story," to Mansfield for an evening infused with skiing and mountain sport cinema.

[Mansfield, OH] Wednesday, October 27th, 2010: A brand new Snow Trails pre-season event, to take place beginning at 4:00PM Saturday, November 13, 2010, will build excitement and anticipation for the coming winter season. A night for all to enjoy the lodge atmosphere, alongside friends and family, during a special educational seminar dubbed "Living The Story," by Dr. Jason M. Hurst, beginning at 5:00PM.

Dr. Hurst is a sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon with Joint Implant Surgeons. He started the Joint Preservation Institute at Joint Implant Surgeons in 2008. He is an active member of the physician pool for the U.S. Ski and Snow Board Association (USSA) and is specifically assigned to the U.S. Women's alpine ski team. He has covered the USSA skiers in Vail, Beaver Creek, Copper Mountain, Loveland Pass, Chile, and most recently Saas-Fee, Switzerland. Dr. Hurst will share his knowledge on preventative practices, conditioning, and medical care with those in attendance. The goal of the event is to keep individuals active and healthy while skiing and snowboarding at Snow Trails this winter season.

A social hour will follow the seminar, with food and beverage provided by Luke's Country Meats and The Laurel's of Mt. Vernon. Snow Trails would like to thank these organizations for their partnership.

The evening will culminate on-screen with the Snow Trails Premiere of The Ski Channel Film Tour's THE STORY beginning at 7:00PM. "The Story" features mountain sports' biggest stars including the marquee athletes of alpine skiing, Bode Miller, Lindsey Vonn, and XGames phenom Bobby Brown. It is the poignant narratives and mesmerizing alpine backdrops that tell the tale of those who devote their lives to the mountain. The feature HD film, THE STORY, anchors the slate of films presented by The Ski Channel on the first annual Ski Channel Film Tour.

"The Story" was shot on location in Mt. Everest, Nepal, the Antarctic Peninsula, Portillo, Chile and Las Leñas, Argentina. The film takes viewers on an incredible journey down sky-scraper steep first descents in Haines, Alaska and to iconic ski resorts like Mammoth Mountain, Whistler Blackcomb, Jackson Hole, Snowbird, Grand Targhee, Deer Valley and Vail. Through poignant stories and epic skiing, snowboarding, river surfing and unimaginable variations of human flight, the film explores the intangible feeling that drives those who devote their lives to the mountains.

"The film is a celebration and character study of some of the most interesting, successful, daring and charismatic people on the planet," said Bellamy who also wrote, produced and directed the film. "It is a piece of work that will hopefully be unifying to our industry as it speaks to all of those appreciative of ski films and mountain sport cinema. It is inspirational. It is an incredible, death-defying journey of human accomplishment that rivals anything we will see in our lifetimes."

Such shots include Jamie Pierre hucking 255 feet off the back of Fred's Mountain in Grand Targhee, Willie Bogner's work in the Bond films, Bode Miller taking on a giant Hammerhead shark, and Mike Tierney sending a 120 foot cliff into water.
