Snow Trails Hosts Late Night Fun, Extreme Talent, and Families

Some of the best freestyle skiers in the Midwest will compete, entertaining families who will make the most of this winter weekend.

Mansfield, OH, January 19, 2010: A fun event filled weekend for all. Beginning Friday, January 22nd with Late Night at Snow Trails, the Snow Trails Amp Big Air Competition Saturday, followed by Sunday's Family Day festivities on the 24th.

The slopes and tubing park will stay open until 2:00AM this Friday, January 22nd for Late Night at Snow Trails. Late Night Lift Tickets for the ski slopes, 10:00pm- 2:00am, are $30 for Adults, $59 with Equipment Rentals, and $15 for a Child, $36 with Equipment Rentals. Two-hour Tubing Tickets for the Vertical Descent Tubing Park, 10:00pm- 2:00am, are $22 for six years old and up, $10 for five years old and under.

Pepsi, Salomon, Burton, Rome, and The Snow Trails Ski Shop have signed on to sponsor the Amp Big Air Competition at Snow Trails, with over $2,300 in prizes. Some of the best freestyle skiers in the Midwest will showcase their abilities in both ski and snowboard divisions. Four judges comprised of experienced freestyle skiers and snowboarders will score based on amplitude, style, difficulty, and landing.

Participants will compete for prizes from each sponsor including two Bose SoundDock® Digital Music Systems, Salomon Suspect 171cm Skis, Rome Snowboard Apparel, Burton Apparel and Gear, plus other winter apparel, such as beanies, hooded sweatshirts, t-shirts, fleeces, and more. The jump will be located at the base of the Competition Slope at Snow Trails. Constructed specifically for the event, the jump will stretch up to 50 feet from take-off to landing, accented with banners, flares, and other unique lighting. Competitors will launch themselves up to 15 feet in the air, off of a steep eight to ten foot high take-off. The event is free and open to the public. An up-close spectator area will be constructed slope-side for optimal viewing, with additional viewing from the resorts main lodge 2,000 square-foot deck. Live music will follow in The Snowflake Loft with the rock band Mad Gathering from Mt. Vernon. Twenty-one and up after 9PM in The Snowflake Loft.

Prior to the event, participants may register at the Guest Services Desk at the Resort. Registration is $10. Open registration will continue until 5pm the day of the event. A practice session will be held from 3:00pm- 5:00pm, with the event beginning at 6:00pm.

A popular event named Family Day truly serves to those as described, a family considered two or more with at least one paying parent or guardian. Snow Trails will host this special event this Sunday, January 24th from 9:00am- 9:30pm. Families who pre-register by 4:00pm this Saturday will have the opportunity to save 25- 30% on Snow Trails premium products, such as All-Day All Area Lift Tickets, Rental Equipment, Group Lessons, the special Let's Get Started Program, and Three-hour Tubing Tickets. As an added bonus to the discount offerings, free food vouchers are included for each registered participant. Free activities and entertainment such as face painting will be available in The Snowflake Loft from Noon until 4PM on Sunday.

Snow Trails has been serving Ohio since 1961. There are six chairlifts, two conveyor carpets, serving 15 runs, including three terrain parks and a snow tubing park. The Resort boasts being "Ohio's first and finest" based on its reputation of many Midwest firsts, including being Ohio's first ski area and the highest ski slope in Ohio.
