First Snowmaking Campaign Continues of 65th Winter Season at Snow Trails Mansfield, Ohio

    Updated: 12-4-25 3:55PM » SNOW REPORT
Please look to early next week for what we anticipate will be an Opening Day announcement to share with you. Remaining in Pre-Season #STSnowmaking mode is needed now through early next week.

Marginal temps during many hours of our campaign have resulted in lower snow production volumes. Our intention is to produce the needed base of snow to setup the Season for success.

The early snowmaking and natural snow - many times rarely for Christmas - has us all excited and anxious to get to the fun! We always look forward to offering you Early and Late Season Bonus Weekends, but know they are not always possible.

Our typical opening is the second week of December, so we are thankful to still be on schedule.

Please stay tuned as snowmaking continues, and as always you can track our progress anytime as we build-up the base of snow and excitement for our 65th Winter Season with you! See the Snow » Web Cams

Off-Season Projects and Improvements

Off-Season Projects and Improvements
September 26, 2019

The off-season has been a busy one, starting for our Crew while the snow was still on the ground this past Spring of 2019. Getting right to it, we’ve accomplished many improvements, updates, and additions across the resort and we’re excited to finally be leading into the Fall and pre-season toward another fun winter ahead with you!

Breaking it down on-hill we are completing a major project at the top of Mt. Mansfield and Silver Chairlifts with an expanded unloading area and additional skiable terrain. This included tree removal and earth moving, with new pines planted and lighting here and in key locations along other slopes. You might remember the steep drop-in to skiers left of the Silver chairlift, to further the purpose of the expansion project, we are now happy to offer twice the width for more turns and a bigger challenge, bringing back and naming the Outer Limits trail to add to our terrain offerings you'll see on the Trail Map.

Over on the West side of the Resort, improvements were underway on Rustler trail to once again expand skiing terrain. The entrance to Rustler Jump Line will come-by-way of a new trail “The Chute” allowing a unique access trail to the Jump Line for freestyle skiers and snowboarders. Thanks to further expansion work in this area, it restores Rustler trail back to its original glory of seasons before the Jump Line. Snowmaking saw great improvement on Rustler as well, with four new tower mounted SMI Super Pole Cat snow guns to keep the capacity up for the Jump Line and skiable terrain. An additional snow gun was also added at the top of Mt. Mansfield for the coming season, along with other snowmaking system updates. Bring on the cold!

Our Terrain Park Crew is looking forward to a full season with our New Pisten Bully 100 Park Bully edition Snow Cat. It has the latest technology in snow grooming and capabilities for elaborate terrain park construction. Operating out of a cockpit decked-out in tech for manipulating extreme angles of hydraulic blades and tillers. The benefit of this 100 Park Bully being smaller in size is allowing the power and functionality of a full-size Pisten Bully, yet in a nimble compacted unit to work between closely placed Terrain Park features and other precision needs across the resort. Early delivery put the Crew in a unique position to revamp The Woods Terrain Park for the final weekend of last season, proving itself already by packing the Park with more features and lines to shred. Exciting times ahead!

Keeping the buildings, landscaping, and grounds looking top-notch is always a priority, as we reinvest in the overall atmosphere of Snow Trails, thanks to a great 2018-'19 winter season. On your way into the Ski Lodge, take a look around and you might notice new landscaping and painting projects completed. Make your way to the 2nd floor of the Lodge as new panorama windows bring the outside in, with unobstructed views of the slopes. The original wood floors have all been refinished and are looking amazing, thanks in part to new track lighting making it all pop!

Leading-up to the season is always fun and we hope you’re getting as anxious as we are to hear the hum of the snow guns and gear-up for your first runs of the season.
