Fourth Warmest And Snow Trails Still Has Snow?

March 09, 2012

We cannot say how pleased and appreciative we have been, to hear the positive comments about our snow conditions and supporting efforts this season, from season passholders and first-timers alike! As The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released, "NOAA: Winter season fourth warmest on record for U.S.- VIDEO" and "State of the Climate- Summary Information," it showcases the hard work and determination of the Snow Trails team, to provide the best winter sports experiences in Ohio, for you, your family, and friends, even in the warmest of winters! Our base of snow was upwards of +60" during the middle part of the season. This was thanks to major investments in snowmaking technologies, coupled with a fantastic snowmaking crew, timing the production just right, to keep you having fun on the slopes and in our parks from December through mid-March!

We have had huge success with our new Snow Trails Cooling Tower, which has made it possible for more efficiency and volume of snow during each of our snowmaking campaigns this season, producing quality snow in even the most marginal temperatures. This is possible because the Cooling Tower reduces the temperature of the water from our holding pond and water wells, to then be sent through our now four vertical variable speed turbine water pumps and out to each of our state-of-the-art snow guns, including the 18 brand new snow guns added in just the past two seasons. This simply assists the water to cure/freeze faster as it falls to the ground. A science to some, maybe magic to others.

Though this season may have been a winter weather phenomenon, (despite what seems even remotely possible) Snow Trails was best equipped to provide you with superior snow conditions for skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing fun! We look forward to enjoying better winter weather, guaranteed snow conditions, and more great memories to be made with you in our Snow Trails 2012-'13 Season!
