Snow Trails First to Open in Ohio!

With superior snow making efforts and efficiency, Snow Trails Winter Resort in Mansfield, OH will be the "First to Open in Ohio!"
Mansfield, OH, December 7, 2010: A start to the winter season will begin this Wednesday, December 8th for Snow Trails Winter Resort. Opening day hours 4:00pm- 9:30pm.
"The latest cold-snap and natural snowfall was graciously welcomed" said Snow Trails Marketing Manager, Nate Wolleson, "our opening tomorrow couldn't have come at a better time for the many who are excited to ski in Ohio, reminiscing of the phenomenal winter weather last season." Natural snowfall builds excitement, however snowmaking efforts began at 4:00am November 26th, continuing through today, building the needed base of snow for Snow Trails to groom the slopes and ready the resort for opening day. Snow Trails will offer 10 of 15 slopes, multiple Terrain Park features, two lifts, and conveyor ski carpet for Opening Day. Additional Trails will open for Kick-Off Weekend December 11th and 12th. To Celebrate 50 years at Snow Trails 1961- 2011, Snow Trails will host a Kick-Off Party with the band Red Ball Jets in The Snowflake Loft beginning at 9pm Saturday night December 11th.
The Vertical Descent Snow Tubing Park at Snow Trails will open Friday, December 17th 5:00pm- Midnight. The Grand Opening for the Park's brand new Snow Tubing lodge is planned to welcome snow tubers on the 17th, offering restrooms, snack bar, seating area, and panoramic views of snow tubers sliding down Ohio's longest snowy tubing park lanes, at 1,100'.

Snow Trails, which was the first commercial ski area in Ohio, is celebrating its Golden Anniversary this season. The privately owned resort has been under the same management since its inception. The resort features six chairlifts, two conveyor carpet lifts (one is utilized for the Tubing Park) and 15 trails plus three terrain parks. The ski resort usually opens in early December and the season lasts into March. The resort is located off Interstate 71 south of Mansfield on Possum Run Road.
