This technology was developed by Microsoft but shortly after its introduction security flaws became apparent and Microsoft had to start creating "hoops" for consumers to jump through to download and use different Active-X controls for different website functionalities.

Most consumers simply miss the bar at the top of their browser asking for permission to install the Active-X control. This solution appears to work with most IE6, IE7 and IE8 users. Even if you are using a modern IE browser your security settings could have been changed by anti-virus, anti-spam, and firewall software. Where to begin???

Our web cams have been tested and work flawlessly on Apple OS X as well as most Linux based operating systems (such as Ubuntu) due to the fact they use Java and avoid Active-X.

Keep in mind that some work and school PC's can limit the ability to install Active-X controls as well as installing a whole new program such as Fire Fox. Check with your IT department (computer guy) if you have any questions as Snow Trails can only offer support for your home computer.
