Snow
Trails to Re-open January 11, 2007
Mansfield, OH, January 10, 2007:
After thirty day's without a chance for snowmaking because, snow and
cold temperatures were non-existent, the first flakes finally began to fall
early in the morning hours of the ninth of January. Snow Trails responded with forty-two snowguns
at full power for a January 11th re-opening.
Despite the unseasonably warm December and early January, in the last
thirty-four day's, the slopes at Snow Trails were open 20 days for skiing and
riding. This family-owned and operated
resort proved their reputation for providing the best conditions, even under
adverse weather challenges.
Extraordinary snowmaking efforts are normal for Snow Trails Winter
Resort. The snowmaking crew, experienced
in the science of snowmaking, utilized their snowguns to produce and maintain
more hours of operation than any other resort in Ohio this season.
"A close weather watch has been the focus since the temperature
change here at Snow Trails," described Mountain Manager Thad Philpott. "Winter weather has returned to Ohio and the
Possum Run Valley, and we're full-go with snowmaking for Thursday's
re-opening," Philpott stated. "We take
it to the extreme," Scott Crislip, Business Manager of Snow Trails explained. "Our operational decisions are made with our
guests in mind, which would probably make most bean-counters roll-over in their
cubicles," Crislip added.
Snow Trails provides high hopes for skiers and boarders this
winter. As the weather has turned from
warm rainy days in December and early January, back to cold and snow, Snow
Trails will now be the location of choice for skiers, boarders, and tubers.
The Vertical Descent Tubing Park at Snow Trails is scheduled to
re-open at 4pm on Friday. The park
provides a thrilling winter experience for the many who want to get out and
have fun in the snow.
Snow Trails Winter Resort has been serving Ohio since 1961. There
are six lifts, two conveyor carpets, serving 13 runs, including three terrain
parks and the Snowtubing Park, on 60 acres. The Resort boasts being
"Ohio's first and finest" since it has a reputation of many Midwest
firsts, including being Ohio's first ski area and the first to open this season
on December 8th. The ski season runs through March, weather permitting.
The resort is located off Interstate 71 south of Mansfield, OH on Possum Run
road. For more information call 800-OHIO-SKI or visit the website at
